Halbleiterphysik in Kürze:
In our research group we investigate micro- and nanostructures fabricated in semiconductors, in ferromagnets and in metals. We also study the properties of hybrid structures consisting of such material systems. By means of molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) so-called heterostructures are grown which involve, for example, successive epitaxial layers of the III-V semiconductors GaAs and AlGaAs. Here, electrons are confined to a thin plane, i.e. to a so-called "quantum well", and form a quasi - two-dimensional electron system (2DES).
